How do I take part?

Glad you asked.  This is the second (and hopefully last) ever virtual, on-line Pink Training.  Normally we have 350 delegates and speakers in one Students’ Union all taking part in lecture theatres and cafés, and this year Pink Training is different.

It’s mostly taking part in Zoom

Zoom is the most effective method of bringing large groups of people together for these events, and most people know how it works.  This year we have 27 sessions (it’s probably more than that) taking place in lots of distinct Zoom events.  Each event is taking place on a ‘Stage’, because we have to limit the size for some sessions – some sessions just won’t work with large numbers of people.

What do you mean ‘Stage’?

Each Stage is like a lecture theatre (where we would normally host the event).  Big events (plenaries, which can take 350 people) will take place on the Audre Lord Stage.  It’s a useful way of organising four simultaneous trainings at once – and means that Pink Training can take place over three days rather than a fortnight.

Can I go to all sessions?

No. Just like non-virtual Pink Training, we run events simultaneously and we put some events on a couple of times through the weekend.  Additionally, some sessions are super-popular and are likely to fill up quickly.  Once a room is full – that’s it – just like at ‘real’ Pink Training, we have to limit numbers to some sessions. There are four sessions on simultaneously, so you should find something to enjoy.

Why not just live stream it?

For security and the privacy of our members, and because USI Pink Training is for USI members only, the majority of Pink Training is exclusively for members and not live streamed.

How do I register for sessions?

Click the ‘register directly with Zoom for this session’ link at the bottom of each page.  Don’t bother using the ‘booking’ form at the bottom of the page.

Booking Sessions

To attend a session, you must book a place for each one.  Each stage has a list of the events taking place on each stage.  Click on the link to be taken to the session description where you’ll be able to register directly with Zoom for the session by clicking the ‘Register directly with zoom for this session’ link.  Don’t use the ‘Booking’ form below that link.  It’s been causing problems for some users.

Emails Galore

The email we’ve been supplied to register you will be sent a confirmation from the USI Pink Training system and then emails will begin to arrive from Zoom to confirm your bookings and give you a joining URL and in some cases a passcode for each session.  These can take some time to arrive, and they may arrive in your spam folder, so keep an eye out for the email.

Randomness

When you received your registration email, you’ll have been given a unique and random username and password.  Sorry about this – for the safety and security of  delegates and the system and for data protection purposes, we’ve taken the decision to NOT store your registered name in our database.  You’ll need that random username and password to get into the site to see the session information, and you’ll need it to book sessions.

I’m getting cancellation messages!

This is a glitch in the link between Zoom and our website. Sometimes it shows up and sometimes it leave us alone.  We’ve identified the problem and we’ve worked to fix it, but for now, you should know:

a) You can register directly with Zoom on the event listing page.  This will ensure you get a direct registration which will be sent to you by Zoom.

b) most of the sessions at Pink Training 2021 allow for up to 95 attendees, which is twice the size of a typical PT session.  If you’re getting cancelled, we’re confident you’ll still get a place.

I used the booking form and it’s telling me ‘could not enroll you automatically’

We recommend enrolling directly through the link ‘Register directly for this session with Zoom’.

Zoom has sent me a registration link

That’s fine.  Fill it in and get cracking.
